A few days ago, we went to a GoogleX. Due to the secrecy of the projects Alphabet Corp. runs there, we won’t be able to say much, but we did get to see their self-driving car division, Waymo. Waymo used to be a part of Google, but is now its own group. It was amazing to see the tasks that the cars could do. Employees could ride to work in these cars. We even got to sit in one while it was parked!
This shows how far along autonomous cars have gone. If we get a few autonomous cars in our downtown, we can use these to ferry people around the downtown area. This would be more cost-effective than creating more parking spaces. Some may say that people won’t trust the cars. As an employee put it, it takes about 30 seconds until the passenger realizes how good the car is.
